    Tell me what you think?

    I have been considering buying a washing machine and dryer brand new for my son and daughter in law for Christmas now I have heard that might be over the top what do you think?

    What do you mean by over the top? Too expensive as a gift, my Mom bought DH & me a dryer when we 1st brought our house as a house warming gift, I am so glad she did, we didn't have much money. If you can afford it and they need it, go for it. It's a practical gift, they will be so happy.

      No one knows your finances better then you. If you can afford to pay cash for them and that is what you want to do with your money, it should be your decision.

        Ditto to Roset---our washer and dryer are nearly 25 years old, going strong and purchased by MIL and my FIL as housewarming 'gifts'. Over the top?? I don't know, but we couldn't have afforded a 'good' brand at the time and probably would have been forced to by these items several times over otherwise by now... We bless them for their generousity. BUT, if this is not in your realistic budget now, PLEASE, DO NOT worry about what you might have WANYED to do and can't do today. Believe me, most of us find ourselves in that (unfortunate) boat right now....

            I also think it is a wonderful gift.
            If you can afford it I don't see where it is over the top at all.
            I am sure the kids will appreciate the head start.
            Have you made time to listen to the birds today........

                who told you it was "over the top", probably someone that cannot afford it and wanted to make you feel bad. Just do what you want and can afford to.

                  I found the washing machine and dryer on sale at sears got both for 699.99 and they are good machines thanks to everyone for your thoughts on this.
