We are about 130 miles north of Tampa and actually hoping to get lots of rain from it. Unless it intensifies immensely (not supposed to), it is just going to be a rain event -- no worse than a regular thunderstorm. It is at Tampa right now (had just checked the radar). With the current path, we should be dead center of the system moving in. ... hmmm... 50 mi north of Tampa ... Crystal River? Leesburg??? She'll be fine. If this is her first storm, she may be a bit apprehensive .....

This storm is only a Tropical depression/tropical storm which just means rain and maybe some thundertorms. I live down south between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami and I am not worried about the storm. So far we just have gray skies and rain. There is no wind and no thunderstorms yet.

glad to hear it is just a trop depression. terry, dd1 has lived in florida for 7 years now, so it dont bother her anymore. the year before, they were evacuated 3 times!!!!!!!! the ones it bothers is dh and me. told her to move back to cali, since i can handle the quakes a lot better chop

Good Morning !!! Just to update you, it has intensified just a bit overnight. Crystal River is expecting some storm surge (very low spots), but all in all, the heavy rains seems to be the biggest issue. We had a session of fairly heavy rain last night, but only cloudy skies this morning. It is coming later today. Tampa and Sarasota seem to have the rain this morning. Coastal flooding is a concern this morning. Bottom Line --- the rain is welcome -- the other stuff --welllllllllllll, not as welcome!

OMG....could it get any more humid. I walked outside this morning and could cut the air with a knife....UGGGG.....we still have rain and major gray skies. The storm is now Tropical storm Alberto.

We are in tornado watch right now..........so looking forward to the rain this will produce. We need it BAD! It should help with the wildfires.

thx for the updates. u guys are soooooooo much better then the news dh is sooooooo convinced it is a hurricane since they named it. dd2 tried to explain to him that they name them when they hit a trop depression. but dad/grandpa is soooooooo worried lol. he has to be the biggest worry wart i have ever seen! chop
