I Have Pink Eye...

OR so I think it is, started itching on friday evening, by sat morning did not look good,but we had already planned to go to st. augustine, (FLA) for the day so away we went, needless to say, my eyes look horrible feel horrible, started antibiotic drops this morning, any other ideas to relieve the discomfort?

They should feel better tomorrow. It doesn't take very long, thank goodness. It is contagious though. Since you have the drops already no sweat...

Oh dear, I'm sorry. Maybe get to a doctor for a prescription? Once you get that it should clear pretty quickly.

If I remember right, it helped to put a warm towel/rag over the eyes for a few minutes. Just make sure that no one else touches the towel before you wash it.

It is very contagious. Always be sure to wash your hands really good after touching near your eyes. I always put cool cloths on my eyes when they are irritated.

was it cool clothes? I had pink eye such a long time ago, I don't remember.

I looked it up, it is warm compresses over closed eyes.

thanks, it is painful, and i am at work now, ahead of the rain, i am south of suwannee terry, and looks like it may be here within the hour or so, the rain that is, and may drag itself through here by tomorrow though they dont know.

The antibiotic eye drops will do the trick. If you can do without light it will help along with the warm compresses. I had it about 20 years ago and sitting in the dark made it a lot more bearable. DD just had it this year and the eye drops cleared it up in just a few days.

I have had pink eye many times, always get the drops from doctor and it clears it up and pretty fast. I would also say to not use any eye pencils you may have used while having pink eye ...I kept getting it and changed mine out for new fianlly and havent had it since. just my thoughts.

star is right about the eye pencils, also ANY eye make-up u have worn. toss it, it is contaminate. and like cindy says, stay away from light, that helps a lot too. chop

It clears up very quickly as soon as you use prescription drops. Problem is, most doctors won;t call in a prescription without seeing you first. When ever my friends get a prescrition they refill it immediately so they have extra on hand. It's worth more than gold when you are miserable with oink eye.

Yes - throw it out! Also, just skip the eye makeup while you have pink eye, it is just irritating. A warm cloth does tend to help.
