  • July 6th Dinner Post

    Good Morning!

It is already a scorcher with another HHH day with the high of 92 and the low of 72. There is a air quality alert that is really making it hard breathing so aside from watering my gardens and flowers late in the evening I am staying indoors.

I have some hamburger that needs used up so tacos it will be tonight. I have lettuce from my garden and cherry tomatoes that can be used on them along with the other toppings. Nectarines will be a cool finish for the meal.

    What will you be having?
Heritic, rebel, a thing to flount,
He drew a circle that shut me out.
But love and I had the wit to win,
We drew a circle that took him in.

Finally got to see Gordon today... he was very happy to see us. It gets more difficult saying goodbye with each visit. I don't know what he will do when we move interstate...

John cooked dinner again. He had sausages and toast and I had chicken and corn soup (out of a pouch that just needed heating).

Looking forward to the weekend when Tiff said she would come down and help me by pulling down the guest bed to make room for the boxes we have packed. It will write off that bedroom and just fill it with boxes. I think I'll feel better once I can tidy up the rooms that we are still living in.
I really want a smoke detector that shuts off as soon as I shout…“I’M ONLY COOKING!!”

We are twinsies today! I also have ground beef to use up so I am doing taco salad and having some plumbs. Live have you ever been to SweetBerry in Wickliffe? They are a little farm type market with the best produce and the best produce prices. I zipped out there this morning to stock up. I tried to stop at the bodega on the way back but they were painting parking lot lines so I will go back this afternoon. Then I have to go to another bodega to get some spicy verde sauce.

No, I have not muz. Unless I get a police escort I would probably get lost looking for it. It sounds like a place that would be a good one for getting some good fresh produce.

Speaking of getting, how is your garden doing? I am getting lettuce, cherry tomatoes and radishes so far but have items that are growing and the green bean vines are just full of blossoms. DGS is loving the fresh lettuce for salads and on sandwiches and is chomping at the bit for the green beans.

I will look up the market and see where it is at. Thanks for the tip.

        Have a good one!

The garden is going so slow, but its my fault. I had a bug problem that hurt everything, then the soil was not really rich enough so I added miracle grow. Also it rained all the time but it wasn't enough so I started watering heavier and things have perked up quite a bit. Sp far though I have 2 stinking tomatoes that are bigger than golf balls. I do have a ton of green beans though that should be ready soon the way they are growing. I am not a fan of home grown lettuce. I am really not a fan of tomatoes but I planted them to dehydrate. I did some early girls, beefsteak and romas. I got some mamby pamby organic bug killer that cost a fortune, but it really did the trick. Also it makes everything smell like cloves. I am not even sure what kind of bugs they were but they look like small house flys with greenish wings. I am thinking of adding some worms to the soil, but I need to research a bit to see if they would survive the winter. The planter is huge, but its getting there.

It’s been a beautiful day today. We went out for breakfast this morning at The Calico Cupboard in Mount Vernon. We hadn’t been there since right after we moved and it’s so good. I had scrambled eggs with cream cheese, smoked salmon and chives and OMG, it was sooo good! I would have that again or make it myself in a heartbeat. We went to Lowe’s and Walmart afterwards. I need to make a Costco run but my feet were ready to go on strike so we didn’t do it today.

We’re getting Papa Murphy’s pizza for dinner tonight.
