  • July 3rd Dinner Post

    Good Morning!

It will be a sunny warm day with the high of 83 and the low of 64.

I baked some chicken last night so will use it as BBQ sandwiches for dinner tonight along with carrot salad and deviled eggs made this morning as sides.

What will you be having for your dinner?
Heritic, rebel, a thing to flount,
He drew a circle that shut me out.
But love and I had the wit to win,
We drew a circle that took him in.

Our grocery delivery arrived this afternoon. It amuses me that it's never correct. There's always something missing or something delivered that I didn't order. Today, before the delivery, the sliced ham I ordered was refunded due to being out of stock. Fair enough, I was refunded $7.60 so I wasn't out of pocket. The silly thing is that it came with my order and there was 410g instead of the 300g I ordered. I suspect I received someone else's ham by mistake. Their loss is my gain as I love having a ham sandwich for breakfast.

I've made a big pot of soup for lunches next week. It tastes really good. I added chicken stock, pumpkin, sweet potato, celery, onion, turnip, carrots, baby spinach and a few small potatoes. I'll make some more tomorrow to give to Julia but with vegetable stock instead of chicken.

Our first doctors appointment since we moved here tomorrow. We each have a 30 minute appointment so we can explain what services we need. Not fun starting with a new doctor after so long with our Doc in Melbourne.

Dinner tonight: chicken schnitzel with green salad for me; two chicken schnitzel sandwiches for John.

Chayote ... Can't you request that your doctor in Melbourne sends your records to your new doctor ? That is how it is handled here , all you have to do is sign the proper paperwork and it will be forwarded to the new doctor / clinic. That way the new doctor can see all the lab tests / results etc. Just wondering.

Summer left the building today! It’s been very cool, cloudy and drizzling rain all day. I had planned on power washing the back porch this afternoon but that’s going to wait a few more days.

I took some carne asada out of the freezer and I’m going to cook that and have a green chile and cheese tamale and some salad with it. I’m going to have some pistachio almond ice cream for dessert.

Absolutely, Sabine... our old doctor has uploaded all our details to the government Health department and the new doctor can access everything. The reason we have such long appointments today is that it's a requirement by our new clinic for new patients. Also we haven't seen a doctor in four months. We have a lot of prescriptions that are running out and we need several referrals to specialists. I just remembered that we need a new disability parking form to fill out. It all takes time...

It did go well. We ran out of time after one hour between us and were asked to made another appointment in two weeks. During that time we'll have blood tests to have taken. The doctor was really nice... very young and eager which is what we were hoping for. All I need to find now is a dentist for John and a hairdresser for me. So far I've been able to fit in a haircut with each trip back to Melbourne.
