I know we have been oner our favorite Penzys seasonings before. I have to add the Southwest seasoning. Its not one that I would have purchased myself but my girls got me a mix of Penzys spices for mothers day. They got me the trial sized bag which I had sprinkled some on chicken and found it just meh. I added the majority of the packet to a crockpot of beans and they are the best beans I have ever made. I have to go order a bag of it now.

I usually just wing it with whatever is on hand unless I make the 15 bean mix, I just the packet it comes with. These were crabnerry beans which I never had. They are the creamiest beans I ever had. I soaked the bag overnight in water. Drained and rinsed them. Put them in a crockpot on high. Added 4c chicken stock and enough water to cover by about 2 inches. Added a diced onion, green pepper and about 2c grape tomatoes. 1T Trader Joes umami seasoning, 1T garlic powder, 1T beef bullion powder, and the whole packet of southwest seasoning minus about a teaspoon. It was the .6 oz trial packet. I had a half lb of breakfast sausage I added but it could really go without any meat what so ever. I was really just trying to use up the last bit in the jar of spices I had. We ate most of the pot lol.

Vera, I keyed in Cranberry beans on google search and it came up with all kinds of information. I had never heard of cranberry beans either.
What's another name for cranberry beans?

Borlotti beans are a type of bean related to kidney and pinto beans. They're common in Italy and Mexico, and also referred to as cranberry beans or cacahuate beans (in Mexico). Dried they're a beautiful dappled white and pink color.Dec 25, 2020Last edited by Sabine; 10-04-2022, 08:21 AM.

Thanks for the info, Sabine. There is a Mexican grocery store about 15 minutes away, but I have never been to it. I think I will make a stop. These beans sound right up my alley. Love pinto and kidney beans and this sounds like a cross of both.
