  • October 10th Dinner Post

    Good Morning!

It is another sunny morning with the high of 65 and the low of 46.

DGS prepped the toppings for tacos last night for tonight and I will brown the meat and make the refried beans also.

    What will be your dinner?

Very busy day today... pity we didn't have much time to spend outside in the sun. When we got home I did some more unpicking of my Cabbage Patch clothes that I made when my children were little. All the elastic has perished so I'm setting up to replace it all. Also, the dolls in my cabinet need to have their hair bands changed. Most of those have perished over the years, too. Sometimes it feels like I still have children to tend to... *LOL* It's all still a lot of fun. The sewing machine will be coming out next week to repair the clothes I have and to start making some new ones.

Home Help starts tomorrow morning. It will make a world of difference for both of us.

Dinner tonight was different for each of us. John had a pork chop, mashed potato, carrot and peas. I had spaghetti bolognaise.

It's been a lovely day. In the 70s and sunny.
there was just a tad of pork roast & gravy left. Joe shredded it and mixed with the gravy. He suggested scrambled eggs with the roast/gravy on top. Very tasty. He had toast. Pretty much like hash. Heading to kitchen to make a couple pumpkin rolls.

It was very cool this morning but we are definitely under a smoky haze here. I did a Walmart run this afternoon and called and made an appointment to get a rock chip in my windshield fixed tomorrow. When I got back from WM, there was a package on the porch that didn’t belong to me. Fortunately it had the actual recipient’s phone number on the label so I called her and she came and picked it up. A little while ago the UPS driver came by to check on it and I told her I’d called the number on the label and got the package to the right person. They both thanked me profusely.

I’m going to make apple baked pork chops, baked sweet potato and yellow squash tonight.

Charlene, I am glad you are getting your windshield fixed, because that crack can spread so fast.
We had a rock hitting our bathroom window , when the yard service was weed eating the yard. It cracked the window , at first it was just a crack, a day later it was shattering the whole window, then the glass pieces just fell to the edge of the window. Thank goodness it was a double pane window and the damage was only on the outer pane. The window company took all the glass shreds out and boarded up the window until the replacement glass comes in. It is a special order for that glass to be replaced.
I would never have left a crack windshield and just driven on, it is so scary when your windshield has a crack, it can spread in minutes.

So far it’s just a rock chip, but I know it can spread.
If I left it, it would be my luck the temperature changes going over mountain passes in November would break it. I figure $65 for the fix is totally worth it.

We had a similar incident with our sliding glass door last fall. Ken was on the riding mower and kicked up a rock and it flew into the outer pane of the door, sounded almost like a gunshot. It chipped really bad and then it started cracking over the next couple of hours. What a mess! That outer pane shattered into about a million 1/4” pieces and it took us hours to get it all cleaned up. It didn’t damage the inner pane and I had it replaced shortly after Ken passed away. I read that the biggest cause of sliding glass door damage is from lawnmowers.
