  • who remembers Elliot?

For those who don't know Elliot, he was my youngest daughter, Tiff's second pony. I bought him when Tiff was about 10 years old. She rehomed all of her horses a few years ago but Elliot stayed local. Tiff hadn't seen him for about two years but heard that he was racing at the Melton race track called Tabcorp Park and she took Immy with her.

First photo is the day that Elliot came into our family; second and third photos are Elliot before his race (with Immy) and then going out onto the track. He's number 2 and he came third. Not too bad for a 22yo pony.

Way to go Elliot. I can't get over how much Tiff and Immy look alike. If you hadn't said their names, it would look like the same person!!

They are twins separated by a generation. Tim had Immy at the shopping centre once when she was about 18months old. A stranger to him (known to me but I wasn't there) came up to Tim and asked if the baby's mother was Tiffany Goodman. Tim was very puzzled as to how she would have known that... *LOL* To me they've been identical since Immy was born. I showed some baby photos to Immy and she argued with me when I told her that they were of her mother. The big difference though is that Tiff was a short chubby child and Immy was and still is very tall and skinny as a rake. She eats non-stop but I don't know where it goes.

It's great that Elliot is doing something other than standing in a paddock, eating. He's very fit and I can see him still racing in ten years time. Average lifespan for shetlands is 20-25 years but Elliot will outdo that I think.

Someone should write a book about Elliot!

We often thought about it, Charlene... I have a precious photo of him 'tarred and feathered'. He got into the feed shed and kicked a bottle of molasses and split it open. He got it all over his head and front legs and then he found the chaff bin and stuck his stupid head into it. Of course the chaff stuck to the molasses hence the tarred and feathered reference. It took three goes through the pony wash to get him clean again... *LOL*

Bean!! (((((HUG))))) Good to see you. Elliot was always a treasure... like a puppy that followed us around but at the same time escaped whenever the opportunity arose. When he was very young he could slip under the fence and go to other agistments are steal food. Shetlands are very food-motivated. I'm glad he's still going and even still racing! He's an old boy now.

Sorry I haven’t popped in more. Slow transition of moving. Our heads spinning. Happy story about Elliot for sure!

Moving house is a whole different stress level that I didn't know existed! Still got one more move to go but I won't be in charge of that one. Hope your move goes smoothly, Bean.
