November 5th Dinner Post

Good Morning!

It is another sunny beautiful day that will make it so hard adjusting when we get the cold and snow after this weather that just spoils one. The high of 75 and the low of 54. Unreal but so enjoyable.

I am solo tonight so am taking some of the leftovers from last night and just eating what looks good at the moment.

What is your meal for tonight?

Gloomy 60° the rain is fast approaching. Wind warning. Gust up to 50 mph. Got all the chairs and cushions in yesterday. The creatures are fed so let it rain. Great day for crocheting in my pjs.
just put beef tips /gravy in the crock. Will serve over brown rice with a veggie.

It is warm and sunny out but the wind is picking up, just enjoying the last of the nice day before the wind storm really comes. The freezer is almost empty and I am picking up the new cow Friday. I found a pack of chicken legs that I am turning into stock to can up. I am going to can it for chicken noodle soup and just take it to the lakehouse. I am making meatloaf and baked potatoes.

On the fun side of the day I am sealing my granite countertops, which is easy just time consuming waiting for everything to dry and shuffling stuff around. I am also scrubbing walls since we are planning on the painter coming next weekend.

Clouds have come in, but its still nice and warm...hubby is out in yard in t-shirt & shorts
I plan on making some schnitzel for dinner tonite, not sure of sides but prob rice and green beans...I'll see what the boys feel like.
I also hope to bake some monster chocolate chip cookies....I've been craving sweet/chocolate a lot lately, not sure what that's about.

We had a really bad windstorm last night, gusts of up to 50+ mph. Lots of damage in the area, trees and fences down and lots of power outages. I lost power for about a minute or so but other areas are still out. Wind damaged 2 panels of my back fence, I’ve got them tied up to a tree until I can get it fixed and knocked over my gas grill. I guess I’m going to have to look into a new fence after the new year. Not much else going on, just doing some tidying and getting Abby’s stuff packed up for travel.

I’m still trying to decide what to have for dinner, I’m thinking either Taco Time or Miyako’s Teriyaki, hope I make up my mind pretty soon!

It’s not uncommon for this area to get heavy wind at this time of year. We get winds coming in through the Fraser River area in British Columbia and through the Strait of Juan De Fuca off the Pacific Ocean. The winds last night were coming from the south, there was a huge weather front coming up from California and Oregon. It rained very heavily all day yesterday and ended with the high winds. One thing Washington is well known for is rain!

It’s not uncommon for this area to get heavy wind at this time of year. We get winds coming in through the Fraser River area in British Columbia and through the Strait of Juan De Fuca off the Pacific Ocean. The winds last night were coming from the south, there was a huge weather front coming up from California and Oregon. It rained very heavily all day yesterday and ended with the high winds. One thing Washington is well known for is rain!

We live 30km north of Julia and her family and we get a very different weather pattern. It's often been torrential rain, hail, thunder and lightning here and Julia will tell me that the sun is shining at her house. We suspect that it's because of an area called the Adelaide Hills that divides the weather current and makes it head towards us. In the Summer we have scorching days in excess of 44°C (112°f) because the heat comes from the west across the Nullarbor/Outback. I'm not looking forward to January and February as they are the hottest months of the year but we do have ducted airconditioning.

We have wildly different micro climates here too. I’m quite close to Puget Sound so I get the benefit of the sea breeze in the summer, but go 20 miles further east it starts getting hot and once you’re through the Cascades the entire landscape is entirely different, it’s rolling plains and almost high desert and it gets to be well over 100°F all summer. I’ll happily take the coastal coolness.

You've given me something to search for on Google Earth... thanks, Charlene. I love searching things like that. My travelling days are over but I can still see different places on google earth and it's fun.

While you’re searching, look up Stanwood, Washington. That’s the town I live in, and the aerial view of the area is quite interesting. There are two good sized islands directly west of me, and several more to the northwest in the San Juan islands. This area is spectacular eye candy!
