  • November 6th Dinner Post

    Good Morning!

It is another cloudless sky and so fantastic out. The high will be 70 and the low of 47. I am staying outdoors as much as I can and crocheting and reading as this won't last much longer and I want all the sun and soak in the beauty of the day.

DGS thinks BBQ pork and egg salad sandwiches sound good along with raw veggies and dip.

    What is your Sunday dinner?
Heritic, rebel, a thing to flount,
He drew a circle that shut me out.
But love and I had the wit to win,
We drew a circle that took him in.

Woke up to blue skies and sunshine, had a wicked rain/wind storm in nite.
DS went fishing yesterday and caught a pile of crappies, so dinner will be fried fish and potato wedges done in the af. If I get to store I will get a cabbage and make some coleslaw.

MudderBear... what are "crappies"? I realise you're talking about some kind of fish but I've never heard of them.

We were planning on going to the park to meet Julia and the children, however Andrew has had another fever episode so the outing needed to be cancelled. It was a warm day but not too hot to go out. Instead we stayed home and did very little.

Dinner tonight: John had a small steak, mashed potato, peas and carrots... I had some leftover pizza from last night, some mashed potato and some asparagus.

Chayote: I should have mentioned this...crappies are a mild tasting fish in the sunfish family.

Oh crappies many yrs ago we had a boat at richmond reservoir. Joe would head to work and I'd head to the lake. There was a limit of 25 crappie. I'd catch my limit, clean them, put filets on ice in the baithouse and catch another limit by 10am. We sold the boat 20 yrs ago. I sure do miss eating crappies. ENJOY and we'll be thinkin of you while we're green with envy. Lol
we're just having leftovers. But now I want crappie.

I will add this after reading Veras reply. It is true it sounds yucky it is pronounced. CROPY.

MudderBear - I wonder who in the world named that fish!! If you aren't familiar with it, it doesn't sound too appetizing - lol.

I just finished cutting up broccoli, red onion, green pepper, red pepper and mushrooms along with thin sliced sirloin for a stir fry. I always double the sauce. It will be served with Basmati rice.

It’s been another stormy day today, more wind, some rain and kind of cold. I’m looking off to the west and there are some big storm clouds coming in. I really haven’t done much at all today, rest of the week will be busy though.

I was all set to get either Taco Time orcMiyako’s Teriyaki takeout last night but they were both closed due to power failures. I ended up with a grilled cheese sandwich and clam chowder at home, so tonight I’m getting Taco Time, order is already in.

Oh this is funny! I've always known the fish as called crappies...with a long A...I put it out to my friends and family today, and thats what they are called here in our neck of the woods...I tried to correct them lol on the proper name. We say crayfish, and southern states say crawfish. Anyhoo....all good eatin' great dinner tonite!

This has made me think about how differént places say things different. When Joe was in the Navy his home port was Boston. While in port he and his buddies would go out to eat. He would order a choc milk shake and get choc milk every time. He was very confused. Finally saw someone get a shake and said that's what I'm trying to get. Oh she said that's a frap. Never heard that word. And we say crawdad. Lol

The 'crappies' sound good, however you pronounce the name... I'm glad you enjoyed them.
