    Good Morning and Merry Christmas!!!

I can see why Santa is dressed the way he does and eats cookies all night long. Baby, it is could outside!!! So far, we have been lucky and while we have snow that is just packed into every nook and cranny from the wind it is actually only about a foot and light as it is what I call "Freeze dried snow". Now, i hope I have not jinked us, and we get slammed today. It is a cold 3 degrees right now with the high of 15 and the low of 9 with lake snow possible of 3-5 inches.

DGS laughed when he saw one of presents that was in a huge Christmas sack and after a ton of digging, pulling all different kinds of paper used for wrapping he finally got his precious gift of a new toothbrush that he has mentioned he keeps forgetting when he is in the store and buy one. I got the biggest grin, and he graciously thanked me.

Dinner is a simple meal of ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, deviled eggs, dinner rolls I will start later and pumpkin pie I made earlier this morning.

What will be your Christmas dinner?
Heritic, rebel, a thing to flount,
He drew a circle that shut me out.
But love and I had the wit to win,
We drew a circle that took him in.

I thought we got lucky with minimal snow during the blizzard. The wind was something for sure. I woke up this morning to the lake effect snow machine and at least 8 in of snow so far. Its supposed to go all day.

Going to the MIL for prime rib and I smoked a ham this morning to bring along. I am ready to go for our annual Christmas mimosa breakfast.

My Christmas Brunch has been cancel do to weather conditions. Airport is shut down until Tuesday. The weather is so bad, so cold, so windy and snowy.
I won't complain cause there are people without heat and electric. Loads of seniors trapped in apt buildings that are run on all electric without heat and electric. Some of these tenants are in wheelchairs, on oxygen and
other life saving devices. Some of these apt buildings also have elevators that are run on electric that are not in service. All roads are impassable cause the plows
can't see and when they can move they are trying to make passes for hospital. Its a nightmare for anyone who is in an all electric building.
Be safe and enjoy your day

        mellon,

You are so totally right in knowing that you are so much better off than others that are in what could be life threatening situations. I always know that being grateful for what you have is more important than what you don't have. My car won't start, and DGS asked why I am not upset, and I told him it is a solvable problem, so I'll be grateful for that and deal with it tomorrow. I am home, safe, warm and that is so much better than so many.

Your post is a great reminder that seeing our Blessings is what we need doing.

        Thank you and Merry Christmas.

It’s been a very cool and quiet day today. I really enjoyed myself last night at my next door neighbor’s house, it was a lot of fun and the food was delicious. Milas cooked a ribeye roast on his Big Green Egg and I’ve got to say it was spectacular! They are such a welcoming family and I’m very thankful for them. This is a strange feeling Christmas without Ken, I barely remember what it was like before him. We had 47 Christmases together.

I’m actually cooking a Christmasy dinner; I’ve got a tri tip roast in my stove top smoker, it’s too muddy and cold outside to navigate the big smoker, and I’m making my granddaughter’s MIL’s sweet potato casserole, some roasted asparagus and I baked a Sara Lee pumpkin pie last night. It’s all yummy stuff!

Thank you mellon, I’m doing well and getting used to not having him here, it’s just so strange. I’m pretty sure he might have sent me the cat that adopted me this summer, she was so friendly and sweet and we both loved cats. She has a forever home now with me and the dog.

I called the auto parts store and they put a battery on hold for me for 12 hours as they said a lot of people were calling and seeing if theirs was in stock. So mellon, I hope you have luck getting one if that is your problem. Just need a jump now.
