  • January 3rd Dinner Post

    Good Morning!

It is dark, dreary and raining and will be most of the day. The high will be a whopping 63 and the low of 50

Dinner will be hamburgers, sweet potato fries, salad and the last of the pumpkin roll.

    What will be your dinner?

I keep thinking of making tacos for dinner. I haven’t a clue for this evening.

I am thinking chicken fajitas for dinner, but not positive yet. My son is taking me and the older dog to the vet later today for his vaccines. I got a new car and it has cream leather interior so the dogs not allowed in it!

It’s been a pretty nice day today weather wise. I had to chuckle a little while ago, Mendi was in the house staring out the glass door and making funny sounds as she watched a big flock of birds having a bug feast in the backyard. She wanted out so bad! I recognized the robins and the chickadees but wasn’t sure about the others. I’m proud of myself, I tried to talk myself out of using the Cubii today but the smart side of my brain told me to get on it and don’t listen to that lazy one that shares brain space, so I did 1600 reps. I may hop on it later and try to get a couple hundred more, we’ll see.

I’m making apple pork chop bake and a package of frozen mixed veggies that has potatoes, sweet potato, broccoli and cauliflower in a garlic sausage. I shouldn’t need anything else with that.

I love it when John helps with small tasks around the house but sometimes I wish he wouldn't. I'll set the stage: I used to have a Neverfail water cooler but returned it in December because the company (Coca Cola) is hopeless at keeping their records in order. I'm still waiting for a refund of $154 that they took in error early in December and they delivered another bottle of water last week without authority but that's a story for another day. Back to the stage setting... we still have 60 litres of good water to use and I put a 7lt jug with a tap into the fridge and I fill it when empty. John did it yesterday and put it back in the fridge but he accidentally knocked the tap into the 'on' position and shut the door. We were out during the day and came home to a puddle on the floor in front of the fridge, both door shelves full to the brim and the two drawers, one containing cheese and the other packets of bake-at-home bread rolls, with 2" of water in the bottom. I've cleaned it up now and tossed out what was not usable. I then jumped online and ordered a new water cooler from OfficeWorks which will be ready to pick up tomorrow. I'll go back to buying Neverfail water bottles but not get them delivered. Wow... talk about timing! I just received a call from Neverfail to say they drove past our house but didn't see a bottle outside. He wanted to collect the full bottle that I didn't order, tip it into the gutter because they don't take water back and take the bottle. He didn't contact me saying he was coming to get it... he didn't get out of his truck to ring the doorbell to ask... no text message... nothing. I told him outright that this company was the worst I've ever dealt with and I still want my $154 back! Enough about Neverfail Water and the Coca Cola company. Back to the stage setting... I now have a gleaming fridge with no puddles of water and tomorrow I'll have a gleaming water cooler that I own (not rented). That turned into a long and boring rant about Neverfail... sorry about that.

Dinner last night was whatever I could salvage from the flood in the fridge. John had some crumbed pork left from a couple of nights before and sliced it onto some toast. I had two slices of bread, some ham and topped it off with half a tin of baked beans in tomato sauce that Immy left.

That sounds like a terrible business to deal with Chayote!
