  • January 24th Dinner Post

    Good Morning!

It is overcast with the high of 32 and the low of 30. Slight flurries and windy. Overnight will start some major winter weather again.

DGS said "Thank You" rosie and grinned when I told him what you said yesterday about him. He had a good idea because the soup was so good. I baked a loaf of bread and made garlic bread with it and he said that made the meal perfect. So perfect he wants more tonight. No problem as I made a big pot so I could have some that I could freeze.

What will be your dinner tonight?
Heritic, rebel, a thing to flount,
He drew a circle that shut me out.
But love and I had the wit to win,
We drew a circle that took him in.

Overcast day, we had some more wet snow in the nite, hubby is off to do a bit of plowing now as who knows how much more we will get over the next few days....we are wondering if most of the snow may be a bit south of us?
We have had a group of 4 wild turkeys visit us each day around 10 am lol. They are funny things to watch. Hubby goes out and shakes the pot of seed and pretty soon we can see them heading down the barn hill and over to our place. In the afts and evenings, the deer come around for seed as well.
I've been busy today getting stuff together for year end/tax returns...I thoroughly despise it. I've been informed by our book keeper that I made a mess of one months deductions/miscalculations, so now we are going over figures this aft before sending off to the accountant. Fun times
All I knew this morn was that we were having pork for dinner, not sure if tenderloin or just chops, now I have a tenderloin thawing and will do schnitzel, rice/red peppers/onions and broccoli.
A balanced diet is a cookie in both hands

I have homemade chili in my fridge and intend to heat that for my meal. Too late to bake bread. I do however have cornbread to go with my chili. What a dreary day we are having.

Mudder I feel you pain. I did the books last week, I am sure my accountant will have 10 pages of questions for me, ugh. I had the grand kiddo today and we played walkie talkies most of he day. He isnt very coordinated when it comes to working them but oh well. Making sheet pan nachos for dinner.

Cloudy and kind of drippy all day; not really rainy but not dry either. I really enjoyed myself last night with the MeetUp group. We had a really excellent dinner at Dragon Palace and we all enjoyed A Man Called Otto. Lots of funny moments and some tears, just a really enjoyable film. Today’s been kind of lazy, nothing really needs to get done today. I ordered egg foo yung for dinner and it was absolutely delicious, one of my old favorites and definitely the best I’ve ever had. It was more like a big frittata and I have enough left for two more meals. I’ll probably have it for a couple of breakfasts this week.

I’m going to have the rest of the orzo pasta and shrimp tonight along with some roasted asparagus. I’m trying to use up my leftovers in a timely manner.

Charlene - I always order Pork Egg Foo Young when I am at a Chinese restaurant. Only one time when I ordered it, it came with a white gravy - not good. I won't make that mistake again. Not a restaurant I usually go to anyway. However, they had excellent Hot and Sour Soup - another favorite.

I love hot and sour soup too, one of the ladies ordered that and it did look good. I’ve always loved egg foo yung and I have to say, what I had was the best I’ve ever tasted. It had chicken, pork and prawns in it and the sauce was out of this world. I will definitely go to this place in the future.
