  • March 3rd Dinner Post

    Good Morning!

It is overcast with heavy rain moving in midmorning along with high winds and the high of 44 and the low of 34.

I am heading out for my monthly shopping and picking up 90% lean hamburger that Giant Eagle is holding for me at $2.99 a pound. The meat manager is so kind and as the store is a private owned one, they do things that the corporate owned ones cannot do.

I am not sure what dinner will be at this point as the leftovers are gone so I will see what inspires me while shopping.

What will be your dinner tonight?

It is pouring rain. High 43 low 36. We have a wind advisory and a flood advisory.
we had the chili dog cheese macaroni thing last night. Really tasty but oh what tummy discomfort hesitant to have the remaining. I may give it to Joe & I'll eat a turkey sandwich. It didn't bother him. Also have a lb hamburger I must cook. So ??? This may change. I never know for sure.
LTB. That is an amazing price. WOW I'd have to get at least 50 lbs.

rosie, The manager asked if I would like 93% lean hamburger instead of 90 at the same price, yes please. I was also asked if I would like sweet Italian sausage links for $1.00 a pound. Oh yes, I would please. So, I have 12# sausage, 5 links per pound, and 30# pounds of hamburger. I don't like filling the freezer with a lot of one meal but leave room for unexpected specials like the sausage links. DGS will love chunks of that in a meat sauce for pasta, on pizza or links for in a toasted bun with roasted onion and pepper covered in cheese melted in the oven. A little salsa over the meat and veggies will make him a happy person. I got home and in the house before the rain hit and even filled the gas tank. Good day and good timing.

Dinner will be the sausage links in the buns with the vegetables, salsa and cheese along with applesauce from the freezer.

livetobake: those are amazing prices! We have lean ground beef on sale at my store for $3.49/lb. I have not seen that price in many years....a few weeks ago it was on sale for $3.99 and again a few weeks after that...I stocked up.

We have a storm moving in over night, high winds and snow. I hope it's not too bad for travelling as my brothers & wives are coming up from Toronto to celebrate our sisters 60th birthday tomorrow.
We went to watch Kian today. He was a good little boy and is pretty much feeling 100% again...he had to have another round of meds for the ears, poor guy.
Hubs has gone to hockey and I never know when he'll be home lol, as the guys congregate at the legion for beers afterwards...decided to keep dinner simple and will make weiner roll-ups and KD.
A balanced diet is a cookie in both hands

I think I hit a grand slam with the prices I got today, and the gas was under $3 a gallon so I did great there also.

I have a fireplace going on the tv, a candle lit and my small lights on that are in glass jars and crystal candy dishes with lids on. DGS loves the lights, and he will turn them on whenever he is near them. It just makes everything so nice and cozy with the rain pounding down and the wind howling. It is getting colder, and snow starts overnight. So glad I did everything that needed to be done today.

It’s been cold and cloudy all day today and there is a chance of rain later on. I went to the dentist this morning and got that molar extracted with no problem. I honestly didn’t feel any of it, the numbing shots worked great. Obviously I’m on soft foods for a couple of days and I have to take it easy for about 24 hours.

I’m pretty sure dinner is going to be a protein shake and a can of Progresso soup.

That does sound good rosie, but I think I’ll wait a few days before having that. Right now the thought of something cold hitting that spot doesn’t sound like a good idea! They did say I was an excellent and calm patient!
