Our beloved Dame Edna, aka Barry Humphries passed away today. He was 89 and died from complications following hip surgery. Even at 89, he could walk in high heels better than I ever could. I had only seen Dame Edna once in person but I'll treasure the memory. What a brilliant man he was.

I hadn't heard this yet, but I remember seeing him/her on TV many years ago. Very memorable and the routine was pleasant and funny. Unlike a lot of so-called comedians today. So sorry to hear this - RIP

Dame Edna has been described as a National Treasure and more recently, a "Global Treasure". She used to call herself a "mega star" but recently chose to change to a "giga star". I found a really nice photo of Dame Edna without the sparkles:

Love female impersonators.To name a few,Mrs Doubtfire & the Saturday Night Live,The church lady!Then theres Jack Lemon & Tony Curtis in the movie,Some Like It Hot as the female musicians,so hilarious!!
