  • May 4th Dinner Post

    Good Morning!

It is dark and dreary still this morning with the high of 58 and the low of 42.

Dinner tonight is up in the air so I will be freezer shopping and see what looks good.

What will you be having tonight?
Heritic, rebel, a thing to flount,
He drew a circle that shut me out.
But love and I had the wit to win,
We drew a circle that took him in.

Lovely day. High 60s, low, high 40s. Sun, sun, sun everywhere. Watched the Goodyear blimp go over our house this morning headed north east. Tried to find where it was going but couldn't. So cool to see it so close. Maybe it's coming to your house LTB getting couple loads on the line.
We're having beef manhattans and a veg if he wants one. I don't

Rosie, when we lived in Southern California the Goodyear blimp landing and storage area was about 10 or so miles from us and we would see it almost daily. I always wanted to ride in it but you really have to know somebody high up to get to do that.

Happy Star Wars Day! May the 4th be with you!

It’s just a crummy looking day today, overcast and cold. I actually had to turn the furnace back on this morning. It’s been another busy day, I took Abby down to the vet at 8 am for her all day glucose and health panel testing, came home and did some tidying, showered, went and got a haircut at 1 pm, stopped at the ATM at the bank and came home. I have to pick Abby up at about 4:45 pm. I do need to get some more laundry started too.

Dinner…good question. I’ve got a small amount of carne asada meat left and I think I’ll make a tostada for dinner.

Another crazy weather day here, but temps are slowly rising. We had our appointment at the diabetes clinic today and we were well informed more so as to foods to eat/not eat. And on a bad note, once hubby's monitor was read, it is not what was hoped for...now he will be having insulin at every meal instead of just once at breakfast. Further tests to be done re: pancreas. Did a big grocery shop to get more healthy foods. Surprised at some things that can be still eaten, and always thought they were no-nos. We had hamburgers the other night, lean ground beef, bit of low fat cheese on top, but no bun. Well, a bun can happen. lol. Tuna sandwich with mayo on rye or whole wheat bread? yes!.
Pork cutlet, whole wheat pasta and mixed veg for dinner

I hope you will like the whole wheat pasta. I tried the whole wheat pasta years ago and did not like it at all. Also didn't like turkey bacon. No taste to it. I am surprised that buns are ok? unless of course it is wheat buns ? Is there such thing as wheat buns ??

Charlene. I would be out everyday to see it we usually only see it come from the north east headed to Indy for the 500. It goes right over our house. I always wave lol. I think it's so exciting.

It had a regular route over our area and we saw it frequently. Sometimes it would have lights flashing messages on the side. The area that it landed in was right next to the freeway so we frequently saw it coming in for a landing or taking off.

The most thrilling sights as far as aircraft was concerned was one year the Hawthorne (the town I lived in) Airport had a big air show and the B2 Stealth bomber flew right over my house twice. That was amazing! We also saw the Space Shuttle when it was flown into Los Angeles International Airport before it was taken to the Air and Space Museum. It did a long flight over the whole area so people could see it. That was amazing too.

We had a really nice day today.Temp wise the low 70's It didnt rain until almost 5pm &; that was just sprinkles.

For dinner tonight we had chicken fajitas,& homemade guacamole(Ina Gartens recipe) & chips. It was good.We really like her recipe for the dip the best.

                Rosie,
How exciting! We used to go see the Good year blimp when it came to town &; the B-52 & B-47.As well as others. We really enjoy The Blue Angels as well!So cool! https://www.copykatchat.com/core/image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw==

                LTB,
What did you decide to eat?Whatever it was i'm sure it was yummy! https://www.copykatchat.com/core/image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw==

                Charlene,
Happy Star wars day back to you to!May the 4th be w/you as well! https://www.copykatchat.com/core/image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw==

                MudderBear,
in the very beginning Its tough starting a new eating plan I know! But before you know it it will be old hat to your Dh & you.I wish you both well.https://www.copykatchat.com/core/image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw== Also, when substituting a carb in a recipe like instead of eating lasagne pasta in lasagne make veggie lasagne with zucchini or eggplant instead of regular lasagne pasta. Then for spaghetti use spaghetti squash instead of regular spaghetti pasta. There is also some pasta thats made with spinach or tomato but i'm not sure if it has enough veggies in it &/or too much carbs in them. Its something to think about anyway.Oh another big rule of thumb, when reading the ingredient list, be sure & look at the first ingredients in the list of ingredients & make sure it says Whole Wheat in the very FIRST ingredient,NOT wheat flour!!Wheat flour is almost white flour!!Its been so processed that its almost white flour!!In the ingredient list the most important ingredients are in the beginning of the list, the farther down the list are the not so good ingredients so be sure & read the whole list. Its a good train of thought anyway.

There is an Oriental noodle that is pretty good! Its called Shirataki Noodles & they also make ,spaghetti, angel hair, ramen & even rice out of the main ingredient. Its almost carb free @ 5 grams for 1&1/2 c.servings.There is only one thing that you have to do because they can be a little slimy if you dont rinse them really well before cooking & or eating them!!!

                Sabine,
I dont like whole wheat pasta either or turkey bacon but its just like anything in that what a person gets use to eating then it kinda grows on ya,you know.

I hated whole wheat pasta at first but now I can't stand the white mushy stuff. Wheat has more "chew " + it lightens up in color when cooked

I have found that the best store-bought pasta is Barilla brand. I haven't had the wheat one but I think Barilla holds up better than other brands. Just my opinion. I wonder about fresh pasta if it is firmer?

We don't eat much pasta, but when I buy it I also use Barilla brand. I don't know why I prefer that brand ?? I have never bought or eaten fresh pasta, know nothing about it.

Barilla and De Cecco are my favorite brands. I tried whole wheat pasta, I really didn’t like it at all.
