  • May 7th Dinner Post

    Good Morning!

It is cloudy this morning and will be most of the day with rain predicted and the high of 75 and the low of 54

A pasta salad with grilled strips of chicken on top, grilled pineapple rings and lemonade just sounds so good with the weather.

    What is your Sunday dinner?
Heritic, rebel, a thing to flount,
He drew a circle that shut me out.
But love and I had the wit to win,
We drew a circle that took him in.

We 'celebrated' our 46th Wedding Anniversary today... John watched football on his TV all day and I did five loads in the washing machine and fitted what I could on my two clothes horses and a hanging rack. Some celebration, huh? Julia remembered and sent a text message and my middle sister also sent a text message. John's brother called him and they chatted for a while. We had a nice dinner... courtesy of me. We each had a small steak... John had airfryer potato, onion and peas. I had airfryer potato, lettuce and cucumber with mine.

A few days ago we called in at the new house and were delighted to see that the brickwork has begun.

You could have gone out to eat dinner or have something called in / take out. You didn't have to cook if you didn't want to. Doing laundry was your choice.

It’s a really pretty day today, definitely looks like spring right now. I’ve been busy doing final tidying and dusting and I got both of Abby’s blankets and the pillow out of her bed washed. You couldn’t even touch them without getting covered in hair. Ugh! I have to get up early tomorrow because I have to be at SEA-TAC airport at 9:45 am and it’s about 60 miles in heavy traffic. After I pick up Kim I need to stop at Trader Joe’s in Everett.

I’m making a turkey burger and I’ll have some more pasta salad with it.

Thank you, D'sMom... when we decided to get married, families on both sides said that it wouldn't last... If John says, one more time, that he could have gotten less years for murder, we won't see 47! He's been saying that since our 35th.

I love the bricks as well... my daughter chose well

It’s amazing how many people told us we’d never last when we first got together! I’ll admit, my track record wasn’t too good. Two previous marriages and 3 kids, Ken was married before too. We surprised them all! One lady that told me we wouldn’t last apologized many years later and admitted she was wrong about that and was glad to see we had made it.

Both my parents and John's parents were quite open that they didn't think we would stay married. John's mother used the excuse that he was not in great shape after his car accidents at age 19 and 20, as well as a cardiac problem and they didn't believe I'd want to look after him. My parents were thinking along the same line that I would get tired of doing most of the physical work. Of course there were times when I was tired but I quickly got over it. My mother-in-law, God rest her troubled soul, believed that I would leave him because of her prediction that he wouldn't be able to walk by the time he was 50. Well, that proved to be false because he's 74 and still walking. Maybe I looked after him better than she thought.

We make jokes all the time... that it's too exensive to get divorced; I don't want to split up our belongings; I need him to take the garbage bins out to the roadside...

In your case, Charlene... you just hadn't found the right husband with the first two!

Chayote, 3rd time was a charm! That’s why I never wanted to do a vow renewal, didn’t want to jinx it. Besides that, I wasn’t aware that marriage licenses expired!
