    Good Morning!

It is a sunny morning with the high of a toasty 88 and the low of 69. There is a slight breeze so that will help.

I made some potato salad and deviled eggs this morning for dinner tonight along with pork I pulled from the freezer and will morph into BBQ sandwiches with slaw. I am heading out to the kitchen and will cut up a pineapple as that will so refreshing once it gets cold.

What will be on your table for your Sunday dinner?
Heritic, rebel, a thing to flount,
He drew a circle that shut me out.
But love and I had the wit to win,
We drew a circle that took him in.

This has been a whirlwind of a weekend! Yesterday I spent a few hours visiting my sister in Redondo Beach and we worked out our dates and times for our October visit with our cousin. The reunion was really a very nice time, got to talk to the attendees and we enjoyed ourselves. I think there were about 40 people there, didn’t think to count them up. Some of the talk was about Hurricane Hillary hitting SoCal today and when I got back to the hotel I was watching the news about it and it had me concerned. Then I got some alerts from Alaska Airlines and figured I needed to find an earlier flight, found one with a 7 am takeoff and booked it. I set my alarm and didn't realize the digital alarm clock in my room was 12 hours off so it didn’t go off and I obviously didn’t hear my alarm on my phone. Fortunately I woke up about 4:20 am on my own. Jumped up, got dressed, brushed my teeth and ran for the rental car that I had to take back. No problems there, the shuttle was quick and the driver was very helpful and best of all, the shuttle lanes were not jam packed full of traffic. Got into the terminal and TSA was doing expedited screening because it was getting really crowded and they were expecting huge crowds so I didn’t even have to take off my shoes! Yay! I had to wait awhile for boarding but I’d rather be waiting in the terminal than stuck in traffic any day. I’ve started playing the “age card” as far as boarding goes, they seat first class and people with kids or those that have mobility problems first. Since I always book window seats I like to get situated and not have to climb over anyone, and besides, I move a little slow. By the time the plane took off it was raining quite a bit and I was glad I opted for an earlier flight. The flight itself was nice, couldn’t see anything but heavy clouds everywhere and in a few places it was a bit bumpy, but not that bad. At this point I had not had ANY coffee or food so I was happy to see the coffee cart coming. It was a small cup, tasted pretty good and kind of relieved my need for caffeine. I also got 2 (count ‘em, 2!) Biscoff cookies. Woo Hoo, staving off starvation! Caught the shuttle to my parking lot after we landed, got my car, set my Waze app to figure out how to get to I-5 and headed home. By this time I was so hungry I stopped at Farmers Cafe when I got to Stanwood and had an order of eggs Benedict and it was just what I needed, there wasn’t a crumb left. I’m home, car is unpacked, I’m pottied and kicking back relaxing with my feet up. If I fall asleep, fine by me. As far as dinner tonight…your guess is as good as mine, it might just be an English muffin with cream cheese because I’m exhausted!

Thank goodness you rebooked yourself for an earlier flight and that you woke up in time to get ready. I am sure there will be many cancelled flights. At least you had a nice time at your reunion. I commend you for traveling like that and dealing with large airports and transportation. Airlines have really cut back on snacks unless you are in first class. At least you were able to eat something before heading home. You are permitted a nap after all those travels.

Dinner tonight was just a Caesar salad with egg salad on top and fresh applesauce for dessert.

Fortunately I have no fear of traveling alone but I do know I won’t fly into Los Angeles Int’l Airport again. We always used to fly out of Long Beach even though we only lived 5 miles from LAX because LB is smaller and much more manageable. LAX is the worst airport I’ve ever flown out of or picked someone up from. My sister and I will be going to my cousin’s home in Concord CA in October for a few days and we’ve got our flights all planned etc. We’ll fly into Oakland CA and our flight arrivals are only 15 minutes apart, so we’ll only need to rent one car. Our departures are about 20 minutes apart, works out perfectly!
