Cashew Caramel Yummies:
BARS:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped salted chashews or peanuts
TOPPING:
2 T. margarine or butter
1/2 cup chopped salted cashews or peanuts
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 T. half-and-half
Heat oven to 350. Grease 9-inch square pan. In large bowl, combine sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar and eggs, mix well. Stir in flour, baking powder, salt and 1/2 cup cashews. Pour batter into greased pan. Bake at 350 for 20 to 25 minutes or until light golden brown.
Meanwhile, melt margarine in small saucepan; remove from heat. Add remaining topping ingredients; mix well. Immediately spread topping over baked bars. Broil about 6 inches from heat for 1 to 2 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown. Cool completely. Cut into bars.
