This is one of my families favorite cakes.
Poppy Seed Cake
3/4-cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
4 eggs (separated, whites stiffly beaten)
1/3 cup poppy seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoons salt
1-cup sour cream
Powered sugar
Preheat oven to 350°
Grease and flour 10-inch tube pan.
Cream butter and sugar till light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolks, poppy seeds and vanilla. Mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Alternately add flour mixture and sour cream to sugar mixture blending well after each addition. Fold in egg whites. Turn batter into pan. Bake 45 to 50 minutes. Sprinkle with powered sugar while still warm.
