    Simply Delicious Black Forest Cake

    cake:
    non stick cooking spray
    18 1/4 oz devils food cake mix
    3/4 tsp. cinnamon
    16oz cherry yogurt
    2 eggs, whole
    2 egg whites
    1/4 cup 2% milk
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    Topping:
    8oz non-dairy whipped topping
    21 oz can cherry pie filling, chilled

    Preheat overn to 350 degrees. Spray two round cake pans with cooking spray. Combine ingredients for cake in a mixer bowl. Mix on low until blended (1 minute). Then mix 3 minutes on med speed until smooth. Pour into pans. Bake for 30-33 minutes or til toothpick test passes. Cool for 15 minutes, then release from pans. Cool completely.
    To decorate: Place 1 layer upside down on large platter. With spoon circle edge of cake layer with 1 cup whipped topping. Spread 1 cup pie filling over top. Top with 2nd cake layer. Spoon remaining whipped topping around outer edge. Spread center with remaining pie filling. Chill at least one hour before serving. Leftovers must be covered and chilled.

    note: Often I will spread an extremely thin layer of chocolate frosting over the cake layers before adding the whipped topping. I have also spread whipped topping over the entire top of cake also, and then added the pie filling in the middle, and garnished with chocolate shavings.
    A good friend will come and bail you out of jail.... but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Damn, that was fun!"
