This would make a great pastry crust for pot pies!
Cayenne-Cheddar Pastry:
2 c.all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp.salt
1 1/2 tsp.cayenne
1/4 lb.plus 3 Tbls.real butter
1/4 c.grated sharp cheddar cheese
3 Tbls.ice water
Sift flour,salt & cayenne together,work butter into the mixture until it is about the texture of cornmeal.Toss with Cheddar cheese & add the wate,mixing lightly with a fork til the dry mixture just holds together.Press together into a ball & chill for 30 minutes.
