Remember this cake?
1/2 c. shortening
1 & 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 c. cocoa
1/4 c. hot coffee
1 t. red food coloring
1 t. salt
1 t. baking soda
1 & 3/4 c., plus 2 T. cake flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 t. vanilla
BEat shortening and sugar until light & fluffy. Beat in the eggs. Mix cocoa into coffee and then stir in the red food coloring. Beat into creamed mixture.
Sift together salt, baking soda and cake flower. Add sifted dry ingrrdients to creamed mixture, alternating with the buttermilk.
Add vanilla. Turn into a greased 13X9 inch baking pan and bake at 350 (preheated) degrees until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 35 minutes.
Now, you can frost this cake with you favorit frosting.
