Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding with Butter Rum Sauce

  • Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding with Butter Rum Sauce

    This is so delicious! I made 2 pans of this for work and everyone went crazy!
    Ingredients
    18 Krispy Kreme donuts
    1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
    2 (4.5-ounce) cans fruit cocktail (undrained)
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 (9-ounce) box raisins
    1 pinch salt
    1 or 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    Butter Rum Sauce, recipe follows
    Directions
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Cube donuts into a large bowl. Pour other ingredients on top of donuts and let soak for a few minutes. Mix all ingredients together until donuts have soaked up the liquid as much as possible.

    Bake for about 1 hour until center has jelled. Top with Butter Rum Sauce.

    Butter Rum Sauce:

    1 stick butter

    1 pound box confectioners' sugar

    Rum, to taste

    Melt butter and slowly stir in confectioners' sugar. Add rum and heat until bubbly. Pour over each serving of Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding.

          This recipe kind of sounds like a very old recipe called Fruit Cocktail cake. Thanks for sharing. SOUNDS YUMMY AND EASY TOO.

            Yes it is a Paula Deen Recipe. Yesterday I substituted cherries and walnuts for fruit cocktail.

              I have to laugh because I just finished reading a Linda Howard book, where the heroine makes Krispie Kreem bread pudding for the police department after she was in an accident. And the recipe is on the back page of the book. Only difference is the fruit coctail.

                  ok its a paula deen recipe......normal sweet for her ..... probably very over the top for us LOL

                    It is pretty sweet but in my opinion, not over the top. Personally i dont add the fruit cocktail, but I always add walnuts. I am sure you could add any fruit you wanted, peaches may be good!

                      So the recipe works just fine omitting the fruit cocktail? I ask because when I saw this recipe I thought to myself, "Ooo, that looks good, except for the fruit cocktail. " I thought maybe it added some moisture or whatever so it wouldn't work just leaving it out.

                        Sorry for the delayed response, you definetely do not have to put the fruit cocktail in the bread pudding.

                            I don't see why not, there is not that much difference in glazed doughnuts.
