    ZEBRA SLICES

    2 cups flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3 tbsps. unsweetened cocoa powder
    1 tbsp. milk
    1/2 cup sugar
    6 tbsps. butter or margarine
    1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
    1 large egg
    1/2 tsp. vanilla

In a small bowl, combine flour and baking powder; mix well. In another small bowl, whisk together coco and milk. Set bowls aside.
In a medium bowl, using an electric mixer set on medium speed, beat sugar, butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla until just combined. Reduce mixer to low; gradually beat in flour mixture until a dough begins to form. Remove half of dough from bowl; set aside. With mixer on low, beat cocoa mixture into the remaining dough in bowl.

On a lightly floured work surface, roll each dough half into a log. Twist each log together. Gently mold the twisted dough to form one long, smooth log. Fold the ends under and press the dough gently to prevent it from unraveling. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill until firm, about 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets. Cut dough into 1/4 inch thick slices. Place slices 1 inch apart on prepared baking sheets.
Bake cookies until edges are lightly golden, about 10 minutes. Transfer sheets to wire racks; cool slightly. Place cookies on racks; cool completely.

    Sweet Switch
Tint the vanilla dough orange to make these tiger-like cookies.
