    Banana Butter Crunch:
    Serves 6

    1/3 c.soft shortening,plus more for greasing the dish
    3 c.diced just ripe bananas(6-9 medium bananas)
    1/2 c.granulated sugar
    1/2 tsp.nutmeg
    1 c.brown sugar,packed
    1&1/4 c.sifted all-purpose flour
    1 c.uncooked rolled oats
    1/2 tsp.salt
    1/2 c.cold butter,cut into 1/2" pieces
    Heavy cream,for serving

    Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.Grease a 2 quart baking dish w/shortening,set aside.

    In a large bowl,combine the bananas,granulated sugar & nutmeg,toss to coat.Pour into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

    In a large bowl,combine the brown sugar,sifted flour,oats & salt.Using a pastry blender,cut in the butter & shortening till the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.Spread mixture over the bananas.

    Bake for 40 minutes,till the crumb topping is crisp & brown.Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before serving warm w/heavy cream.
