CHOCOLATE BISCUITS with Chocolate Cream Cheese Spread
These lasted about 20 minutes!
We served them split with a tad of butter on them, and kept warm in the pan. The Chocolate cream cheese spread was served in small, silver bowls, with butter knives.
4 cups flour
4 T. cocoa powder
½ cup sugar
3 T. baking powder
½ t. baking soda
½ t. salt
1 stick good margerine (or butter)
1 cup buttermilk
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Grease your baking pan.
Sift together all dry ingredients. Cut and crumble margarine into the dry ingredients. Stir in buttermilk and mix well, but not over mix.
Roll the dough to 1/2 inch thickness on a floured surface mixed with a little cocoa.
Cut out biscuits, place in pan, and bake for 10-12 minutes.
CREAM CHEESE FILLING
8 oz cream cheese
1-2 cups powdered sugar
2 t. cocoa powder
1 ripe banana
Cream all ingredients together until well combined, and smooth. Chill until ready to use.
