  • SHERRIED BANANAS by Buckwheat

    This is a nice, light dessert.

    6 half ripe bananas, cut in half length wise
    Shorting for frying ( I use peanut oil)
    1 cup sugar
    2 cups water
    3 cloves
    1/2 lemon, sliced
    1/4 c. butter
    2 T. Sherry
    Fry bananas in shorting until golden brown & remove from skillet.
    Brown sugar in another skillet. Add water & cook until it forms a thick syrup. Add cloves. Add lemon, butter and Sherry. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add bananas and simmer another 5 minutes.
    Serve warm with ice cream if you like
