  • Grilled Roast Beef Sammies

This recipe came from a 1999 Taste of Home. I have had it floating around here for so long and finally decided to make them last night. I wish I would have made them sooner because they WERE A HIT. I ended up using Italian flavored deli roast beef because the clerk gave me the wrong kind but they were excellent ~ Fatkat

    GRILLED ROAST BEEF SAMMIES

1 can (4 ounce) chopped green chilies, drained
2 TBS mayonaise (I used Hellmans)
1 TBS Dijon mustard (I used Grey Poupon)
Jewish seeded rye bread (I used Hearty Beefsteak)
    Swiss cheese slices
Roast beef slices (I used Italian flavored)
    Soft butter or margarine

Combine the canned chilis, mayonaise and mustard **(see note following).

Spread on one side of each slice of bread per sandwich then top with a slice of swiss cheese and then the roast beef (as much as you prefer). Cover with another slice of bread and butter the outsides of bread. Grill on a hot griddle or skillet until golden brown and the cheese is melted.

**NOTE: We got 4 sandwiches out of the mayo/mustard/chili mixture and I even spread it on BOTH sides of the bread so if you are making more than 4 sandwiches you may want to double that recipe OR just spread it on one side of the bread like the recipe says.
