  • Baked French Toast with Strawberries by Tessa

Last weekend we went to Maine for a wedding and on Sunday the Bride prepared the following French toast - which she served with a Spinach salad and a spiral ham.

Hope you enjoy.. It was SO very good!!!

    Sharon’s Baked French Toast

    1 – 16 oz. French bread cubed
    8 oz. Cream cheese
    6 eggs
    4 cups half and half
    ½ cup butter, melted
    1 tsp vanilla
    1/8 tsp. Cinnamon
    1/8 tsp. Nutmeg
    ¼ cup maple syrup
    2 cups fresh strawberries
    10 oz. Strawberry preserves

    Spray a 9 x 13 baking pan with non-stick butter spray.

Line bottom of pan with French bread cubes

Cut cream cheese into small pieces, and place over the bread.

Beat together eggs, half and half, butter, spices and maple syrup.

    Pour over bread.

Cover and refrigerate overnight (or at least 8 hours)

In the morning make the strawberry sauce:

In saucepan over low heat, place sliced fresh strawberries and preserves.

Drizzle a small amount of strawberry sauce over the French toast.

Keep the rest of the strawberries warm.

Baked in oven (350), COVERED for 25 min., UNCOVER and bake 20 minutes more.

Cool and allow to rest for at least 5 minutes.

Serve heated strawberries on the side.
