  • Bulgogi (Korean beef)

1 3-lb roast, slightly frozen and sliced really thin into about 2-inch wide strips

    1/3 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup soy sauce
    2 tbsp. maple syrup
3 tbsp. rice wine or sherry
    8 cloves minced garlic
    2 tbsp. seseme oil
    4 chopped scallions
    2 tbsp. toasted sesame seeds
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    pinch red pepper flakes

Rub the sliced beef w/ the brown sugar

Mix the rest together and pour over meat slices and marinate an hour or more

Soak wooden skewers in water for at least an hour, then thread meat on skewers. Grill!!

I've only had this at a Korean restaurant. Amazing.

It is SOOOO good. I think rubbing the meat w/ the brown sugar and then marinating makes it SOOO tender.

This sounds great, but what "kind" of roast do I use? I usually buy chuck as it makes great shredded beef, so what are my options?

I think this time I used an eye roast.

Bulgogi is the best Asian food you'll ever eat! Better than ANYTHING Chinese or Japanese! Trust me....
