Root Beer BBQ Sauce

Based on a recipe from “Live With Regis and Kelly,” demonstrated by T.J. Stoner of Middletown, NJ.

2 cups root beer
8 Tbsp. Orange juice
3 Tbsp. Lemon juice
2 Tbsp. Lime juice
2 teasp. Garlic powder
½ teasp. Celery seed
½ teasp. Onion powder
1-1/2 cup brown sugar
1 medium bottle catsup (I use 32 oz.)


In a medium saucepan, reduce root beer (I reduce it to probably 1-1/4 cups liquid).
Add juices and spices, and simmer a few minutes. Remove from heat, add brown sugar and catsup and let thicken.

This is a very sweet sauce that goes perfectly spare ribs cooked in a very peppery dry rub.

The dry rub recipe is DH’s own creation. I’ll try and post it soon (If he’ll share it with me, lol!).
