Almost-Like Ranch Style Beans

3 cups dried pinto beans
Water
1/2 pound salt pork or ham hock (I used salt pork)
2 to 3 jalapeno peppers, chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 Tbls. chili powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. oregano

Wash beans, cover with water and soak overnight, or use the quick method. Drain beans and cover with water again. Add all ingredients and bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 3 hours, or until beans are tender. Add water if necessary.

*note...there is no salt listed. You can add to taste after the beans are done if you like. I had to add very little.
