Thick Spiced Lentil Soup:
Serves 6-8
1/2 lb.dry lentils
5-6 c.water
2 onions,chopped
1 bay leaf
2 cloves garlic
1 8oz. can tomato sauce
1 tsp.pickling spice(tied up in cheesecloth bag)
1/4 c.vinegar
1/4 c.olive oil
salt & pepper to taste
Pick over & wash lentils.Add water to cover & remaining ingredients.Simmer til lentils are cooked.
