Re: Your favorite Baked Bean recipe please...
WELLLLLL........my late mother made the best baked butter beans!!!!!!!!! Dont ask me for the recipe b/c I have no idea how she made them!!!!! But they were GREAT! They are the BIG beans, and I know that she sauteed bacon and onion......added catsup, brown sugar and ?????????? Not much help here, I know. We do not eat alot of beans here...........so I have not really experimented w/ the ingreds for a recipe. Adding....they were the canned butter beans......not the fresh that you soak.

BIKER BBQ BAKED BEANS
1 can pork and beans (1 oz) (1 to 15)
1 can pink beans (1 oz) rinsed and drained (1 to 15)
1 can kidney beans rinsed and drained (1 oz) (1 to 15)
1/2 Lb. Bacon, cooked and chopped
2 Cups smoked Ham chopped (never added this, used smoked sausage)
1 large green pepper chopped (I used red and yellow because I like peppers)
1 large yellow onion chopped
1 small green chili pepper chopped (I use a jalapeño)
1 Cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup BBQ Sauce
2 cloves garlic chopped (2 to 3)
Preheat grill to med. Heat.( if using grill) Combine ingredients in large pot. Mix well. Simmer for several hours stirring often. Remove from heat when veggies are soft. 350 for in the oven works too.I still play with my food

I have been making this recipe for about 15 years and it is always requested at any family get together. The average woman would rather have beauty than brains, because the average man can see better than he can think.
I got Bush's grilling beans, steak ones, I really like the Bush's old beans better.
I got the southwestern ones and nobody would eat them. They like the Bush's original or homestyle. The average woman would rather have beauty than brains, because the average man can see better than he can think.

Re: Your favorite Baked Bean recipe please...
I don't measure, I make mine like mom made hers. DH liked my moms better than his moms, and now likes mine better than hers!
I don't like baked beans so I don't measure. I just add what I think needs to go in there. These are approx. measurements. I just squeeze the bottles! lol At home I make sure there's 1 slice of bacon for each person eating, or they fight over them. If I'm feeding a crown, I'll dice the bacon in bite size pieces and sprinkle across the top so everyone gets bacon in each spoonful
2 (15oz?) cans pork 'n beans
1/4 cup catsup
2 tbsoyellow mustard
1 tsp worchestershire sauce
1 tspred wine vinegar
1/2 med. onion, diced
3/4-1 cup brown sugar
S&P to taste
garlic to taste
bacon slices on top while cooking.
Mix them all together except bacon. put in baking dish, lay bacon across top. bake 375° until desired doneness.
I like to bake mine until it's not real "juicy" maybe an hour to hour and a half."Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent." ~Eleanor Roosevelt

Re: Your favorite Baked Bean recipe please...
I used to get the can of Big Johns beans and doctor them up but they don't make them anymore or at least I can not find them. Now we use Bush's homestyle beans.
I do not measure - just eyeball.
worcestershire
ketchup
honey
onions
bell pepper
hot dogs cut up & mixed in
bacon for the top
