Can you freeze apples without cooking them first?

I have a bunch of apples that are going to go bad if I don't do something with them.

Can I shred them up and add sugar like the recipe calls for and then just freeze them...........pull them out of the freezer, defrost and add to the recipe like usual???

Yes, you can. If you can buy frozen apple pies and then bake them off you can freeze them raw. Just be sure you package them good so they do not get freezer burn. I would also measure out the amounts you think you will be using for whatever you want them for and freeze in that amount.

My mom makes apple pie all the time. She wraps them in foil and plastic wrap. Whenever she wants a pie, she thaws it out and bakes it as usual.

I make applesauce and apple butter and freeze that.
