Got this outta the newspaper..so I haven't tried it yet...it looks good! ;D


Upside-Down Pie

1/4 cup butter,softened
1/2 cup pecan pieces
1/4 cup brown sugar,packed
Pastry for double crust pie

6 cups sliced apples
1/2 cup white sugar
2 Tbsp flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Spread butter on bottom of a deep pie plate.Sprinkle with pecans and brown sugar.Cover with pastry crust.

In a bowl,combine apples,sugar,flour,cinnamon and nutmeg.Put into pie shell.Top with second crust and crimp together.Slice hole in center for vent.

Bake on a baking sheet for 1 hour 10 minutes at 350.
Carefully loosen edge and invert immediately onto large serving plate.Serve warm with ice-cream.

Hints: This caramel and nut glaze is a welcome twist to the old familiar.Just be sure to take it out immediately before it cools and hardens!
