    Grandma's Peach Cobbler...by M. Gourley, Galena, KS

    1/2 c. butter, melted
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    1 c. flour
    1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. milk
    1 can (29 oz) sliced peaches in heavy syrup
    2 T. sugar
    1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon (optional)

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pour butter into 2-quart rectangular baking dish.

    In a large bowl, combine 1 1/4 c. sugar, flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in milk until smooth. Pour over melted butter. Drain peaches, reserving liquid. Arrange peach slices over batter. Pour reserved liquid over peaches. Do not stir.

    In a small bowl, stir togeter 2 T. sugar and cinnamon, if desired. Sprinkle over peaches. Bake about 45 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm. Serves 8-10.

    I have this one in the oven now. I have made one similar to this for years, but have never used the juices. I always have either used the drained peaches or peach pie filling. I will let you know what it is like.

      The Cobbler is very good. I needed to cook it an extra 15 minutes to get it lightly browned.
