Sourdough Rye
starter:
3/4 cup warm
3/4 cup rye flour
1 teaspoon yeast
Sprinkle yeast over warm milk, stir until dissolved then stir in the flour. Cover and let stand at room temperature for 3 days. Stir once daily. Use all of this starter for the following recipe.
Sourdough Rye Bread Recipe:
all of the starter
1/2 cup water
1 egg
1 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 1/2 tablespoon barley malt syrup
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon caraway seeds
2 1/4 cups bread flour
3/4 cup rye flour
1 1/2 teaspoon yeast
This is a bread machine recipe, it was given to me by a friend but I've never used it as no one likes rye bread here.
