  • Romanian Turkey Burgers (updated 7-8-2022)

1 lb. ground turkey (don’t use the super lean, not enough
moisture in it and it will get really tough)
1 to 2 cloves garlic, crushed (about a rounded tsp. of
minced garlic from a jar is fine too)
    2-3 Tbsp milk
    tsp. dried thyme
    tsp. salt
    tsp. allspice
    tsp. ground clove
    tsp. black pepper
Hamburger buns of choice (onion, whole wheat, poppy seed)

Combine turkey, milk, garlic, thyme, salt, allspice, cloves and pepper. Shape into 4 patties about inch thick.

Place on grill over hot coals about 6 inches from heat and cook 3 to 4 minutes per side or until no longer pink in the center, or cook on top of the stove in a heated skillet at medium heat. Serve on buns with toppings of choice.

I have no idea why these are called Romanian, all I know is that these are delicious burgers. I put mayo, Heinz Chili Sauce, sliced tomatoes, dill pickle slices, Cheddar cheese and pickled red onion slices on mine. To die for!

Here’s a recipe for pickling PureFresh artisan sweet Italian red onions. Pickled red onions are great on tacos and even avocado toast! Recipe below

    1 red onion, thinly sliced
    cup apple cider vinegar
    1 tablespoon granulated sugar
    1 teaspoon salt
1 cup hot or warm water

    1. Slice red onions as thin as you can. (Use a mandoline if you have one).
    2. Put all the red onions in the jar.
    3. Use a measuring cup and combine apple cider vinegar, salt, sugar, and warm water. Stir until dissolved.
    4. Pour the pickling juice over the sliced onions. Make sure all onions are immersed. Set for an hour aside and then cover and store in fridge.

Charlene’s notes 6-16-2022: These are so good! Followed the recipe exactly.
